The northwest Highlands has much to offer in the way of wilderness. There are some of the most remote areas in the highlands of Scotland. Some days you may not see anyone else.
We can also organise additional days at a Bed and Breakfast or Hotel. We won't charge any commission for bookings.
We will pick you up at the Railway Station at 3:00pm and at the Inverness airport at 4:30pm. Then we will drive straight to Poolewe where we will camp for the night.
Get up in the morning and have breakfast. We will then get walking to the Letterewe Estate. First we will walk passed small Lochs and forests. Once we have cleared the trees and gone up a slight hill you will see a change of scenery where we get surrounded by hills and cliffs. In the afternoon we should arrive at Carnmore, where we set up camp.
After breakfast we will head up a pass and will enjoy some great views to the glens below. We will then walk towards the bothy at Shenevall where we will spend another night camping.
On this day we will head up the hills on boggy trails towards Dundonnell and to the peninsula to the east of the village. Depending on progress and weather we will camp in the area of Inverbroom or Inverlael Forest.
On this day we will try to walk up one of the hills in the area. There are some magnificent hills like Ben Dearg or the remote Seana Bhraigh. You just can’t go walking in this area without climbing one of the hills there.
From our nights camp we will head off towards a Duag Bothy at a nice remote glen further north. If possible we will start walking towards Ullapool so we can make the next day a little shorter.
On the last walking day we walk to Ullapool, where a nice Hotel with hot showers will wait for us. On the way, to finish off the walk we will have a chance to go to a view point, which overlooks Ullapool and Loch Broom.
On the last day we will get picked up by our bus who is driving us to Inverness. We can drop those off in Inverness, who have earlier flights, bus or train journeys. If the time allows us we will have a quick visit to Glen Ord distillery and Loch Ness. In the afternoon you will be dropped off at Inverness airport and railway station.
You should be fairly fit. After all everyone will have to carry a rucksack of about 12-15kg for 6 days.
The hills in this area have generally not too steep but can have some exposed parts to one side.
